Document Summary

He started to do dissections, however in his time he wasn"t okay to do dissections of humans, so his dissections were on primates and pigs and he based his drawings on. He was interested in the human body therefore he would draw humans that have been dissected but draw animal organs on the inside. Created the theory of the non-naturells: 1. Thynges not naturall (not controlled by human nature) It was noticed that epidemics, infectious diseases would wipe out the population. Miasma was the reason why; foul/bad air created diseases that wiped out the population (contaminated air and water) Started with italians when they discovered that tiny micro-organisms caused infectious diseases (eg. bacterial diseases) This theory was replaced by the miasmatic theory. No one acknowledged this theory until microscopes were created to actually see the little micro-organisms. John snow: the father of epidemiology; he was the first to demonstrate this theory in london when there was a chloera outbreak.
