Document Summary

Is it the physical or the non physical. What is the relationship to the brain: descartes non physical thing yes. Its complicated: complex relationship to the mind. Rene descartes: 1596, philosopher and mathematician extrandoaire, mediations on the first philosophy, cogito ergo sum i think therefore i am. Dualisum dual means two: there are two kinds of substance, physical stuff: table, chairs, ground , mind stuff. Aka spirit aka soul: the mind is not the brain. The brain is physical thing the mind is mind stuff. Mind is not physical at all made up of something else. Stupid stomach why are you doing this to me stupid head why do you hurt so much. Stupid body why are you so hangover. Not a physical thing but a thinking thing. It is related to the mind in a certain way. I can use it to know things about the world: what kind of thing is my mind/soul/spirit, exactly.
