Humans have a multitude of different memory systems that work together to create a total memory for the human. He had absolutely no idea what had happened to him. Described his life as just constantly having to wake up. Clide wearing was unable to recall conscious experience was still able to remember unconscious experiences. Clide was trapped in the state of a loop.
