Do intelligence tests work: short-term reliability is good. Test-retest reliability over a short period of time. Child and adult iq are correlated, but correlation is longer with time intervals. Iq scores have consistently risen around the world. If an iq test from 1940 were given today, the average score would likely be higher than 100. In low ses communities and less developed countries: possible reasons. Iq tests only attempt to measure some types of intelligence: emotional intelligence is not tested by traditional iq test. The ability to reason about emotions and to use emotions to enhance reasoning. Individuals have different levels of emotional intelligence: strikingly, individuals with high emotional intelligence show less brain activation when solving emotional problems, some individuals have very low emotional intelligence, called alexithymia. Low emotional intelligence whereby a person has difficulty identifying and describing their own emotions and in appreciating the emotional states of others.
