Document Summary
Newborns spend a lot more time in rem sleep than adults. First two stages of piaget"s theory of cognitive development. How to test a child for theory of mind understanding. Importance of attachment and a technique for measuring it. Two of piaget"s stages occur during infant and early childhood: sensorimotor stage (0-2 years) Infants rely predominantly on their movement and sense to earn about the world: preoperational stage (2-6 years) Children move away from egocentrism to sociocentrim. Children develop a working theory of mind- the understanding that human behaviour is guided by mental representations, and that these mental representations differ across individuals. Change of location task (sally- anne task) He discovered a lot about human development (especially child development) Piaget"s stages accurately describe many of their behaviours the human infants and children exhibit. But there are some criticisms of his theory: He underestimated the abilities of infants and young children. Development is more continuous than piaget theorized.
