People who are poor" seem to be less happy in comparison to people who are not poor" but once above the not poor" level there appears to be no difference in happiness levels (ex. super rich or not) Used to be called manic depression; and is when depression gets mixed with another state 2 has been marked by a state where the depression is extreme with episodes of mania. Paul eckman found that our emotions are mirrored by our faces along with our body language, and that if you put on an emotion you actually feel that (ex. looking happy makes you feel happy) Cognitive causes: depressed people turn every small negative thing into a monumental tragedy and tend to ignore the positive things most therapeutic attempts try to alter the way in which they think.
