Baumeister used different indicators to test sex drive. All indicators show that male has higher sex drive than female: sexual fantasies. Rate of thinking about sex each day: desired number of sex partners. Masturbation is not affected by social pressure: seeking sex. Male self-evaluate a higher sex drive than female. Result of evolution because male wants to pass their genetic makeup to next generation and the most efficient method is to have relationship with female. Lottery winner may be very happy when he first got the news, but find daily mundane activities less pleasurable after the win because all activities do not compare well to lottery winning. The feeling of the lottery winning becomes a setpoint and the winner is adapted to this extreme happiness. Every activity is now compared to the setpoint so he will not be as happy as before. Setpoint is usually not neutral, set above neutral.
