The idea that general intelligence (g) exists comes from. Other factors include a spatial ability factor, or a reasoning ability factor. Some studies using the factor analytic approach ended up finding many different factors: example: thurstone (1938) found 7 factors; verbal comprehension, verbal fluency, number, spatial visualization, memory, reasoning and perceptual speed. Fluid: refers to mental processes rather than specific information (declines with age) Crystallized: a person"s knowledge base (increases with age: might be related to genetics aspects. Howard gardener: gardner proposes eight types of intelligences and speculates about a ninth one, existential intelligence is the ability to think about the question of life, death and existential intelligence existence.
