Document Summary

Nature and nurture both efect geneics - the same for racial; when the environment is the same, the results are too. Intelligence can"t be tested by giving standardized tests that are designed to focus on one single aspect. Ex. making a baseball player play basketball, can"t measure him like that. Thurstone seven he found 7 factors that are related to intelligence. Verbal comprehension, verbal luency, number, spaial visualizaion, memory, reasoning, perceptual speed. A person may excel in some of these factors but not others. General intelligence (g) charles spearman proposed that it is linked to many clusters that can be analyzed by factor analysis. Ex. people who do well on vocal exams do well on paragraph comprehension exams, a cluster that helps deine verbal intelligence. Other factors include a spaial ability factor or a reasoning ability factor. Fluid intelligence: refers to mental processes rather than speciic informaion (declines with age) Crystallized intelligence: a person"s knowledge base (increases with age)
