Document Summary

Biological influences stomach pangs, feel hungry, and biological attraction to sweet and salty tastes. Psychological influences variety or types of foods, sights and smells that attract you towards food. Socio-cultural influences we may be influenced to act hungry, or full. Stomach contractions send signals to the brain that make us aware that we are hungry. We used to think that it was this way, but research has shown that this isn"t true most of the time. Empty stomach -> low blood insulin -> glucose enters cells -> appetite increased. Fill stomach -> insulin increases-> glucose enters cells more -> appetite decreased. These people will find the smell of these foods appealing and feel hungry as they smell these foods. Social facilitation: social environment facilitates eating behaviour: example: after you eat at your girlfriend"s house, their parents tell you to take a second helping, or a third, so you do.
