Relational self: beliefs about what you are in different relationships (friends, family) Collective self: our beliefs about who we are apart of social identities (culture, student etc. ) Aspects of the self may change depending on the situation. Working self-concept: subset of self-knowledge that is brought to mind in a particular context, how you construe who you are in different situations. Relational self-beliefs: identity in social relations, son or daughter, boyfriend or girlfriend. Age seems more important to self-definition if you are surrounded by much older people. Whatever is unique tends to become a part of working self concept. Tell us about yourself students more likely to mention certain facts if they were unusual in that class (boy mentions gender if in a class with girls)
