Cortex as got larger and larger, there isn t enough space so it starts to make ridges, mountains and valleys. Sulci/sulcus are the valleys (indentation), tell where we are, dividing where one part ends and where another starts. If sulci are very deep, they become fissures (deep groove) 2 hemispheres are separated by the longitudinal fissure. Cns: information in, decision made, information out. A lot of the information is sensory. Everything on the right side of your universe/world is controlled by the left hemisphere and v. v. I. e. if grandma had a stroke and damaged her right hemisphere, her left side will be paralyzed. The central sulci/ central fissure is a deep groove halfway form front to back that. The sylvian fissure/lateral fissure is the large fissure on the side. The primary motor strip is the pre-central gyrus: parietal lobe: responsible for sensation in the body/somatic sensory input.
