Document Summary

Morality can be studied from a scientific perspective. It was initially believed that without religion, there would be no morality. This is not the perspective that psychologist have taken. Morality is a collection of adaptation, that we have evolved, to navigate our social world. Dean office sent a formal letter to students before halloween, prohibiting them to wearing certain costumes that were said to be culturally inappropriate. 2 professors (developmental psychologist) at one department were upset, and responded implying it (cid:373)ight (cid:374)ot (cid:271)e a total (cid:271)ad idea to (cid:449)ea(cid:396) p(cid:396)o(cid:448)o(cid:272)ati(cid:448)e (cid:272)ostu(cid:373)es, (cid:272)lai(cid:373)i(cid:374)g it(cid:859)s a (cid:449)a(cid:455) to (cid:271)e (cid:272)(cid:396)eati(cid:448)e a(cid:374)d imaginative. Claiming public institutions should censure less, and prohibit less, encourage active discussions instead. Students demanded these 2 professors to be fired. Students think this is a moral obligation, and not doing (cid:449)hat the(cid:455)(cid:859)(cid:396)e suppose to do = p(cid:396)ote(cid:272)ti(cid:374)g stude(cid:374)ts. The need to be politically correct is too crazy!
