Today"s lecture is going to be on evolutionary perspectives on emotion. Today"s lecture is important because it sets the tone and background for the upcoming lectures. The first person that comes to our mind when we think about evolution is charles darwin. Darwin was also influenced by theorists that came before his time. He built on their work; took their theories and built it into his own. Who are some of the theorists that influenced charles. He was a naturalist who lived in the late. Lamarck thought that those organisms that had these traits were more likely to survive. One example that is used frequently to illustrate this theory is a giraffe that has a very long neck. The long neck is going to be advantageous for the giraffe because he will be able to get the foods at the leaves that are higher up. A giraffe that has a shorter neck might not be able to do that.
