PSYC14H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Social Rejection, Culture Shock, Histology
Document Summary
As humans, we have language, which allows us to communicate the things mentioned above. We as humans have the capacity to learn them. Example: wearing light clothing in hot climates become a fashion statement and a source of culture that emerges in these other things. These things are called ecocultural components that emerge from this environment. The more adaptive it is, the more people do it. The more likely it is to be transmitted to subsequent generations. The environment is often changing so the people and the culture have to learn to adapt. When the environment changes, there is a shift in the culture that switches back in order to adapt to the environment. To be competitive in the marketplace, you have to be faster, smarter, etc.
