Eg, online course , soldiers operating drones , etc. Three ways drone warfare piques the interest of sociologists who think about human body. 1. sociologist are interested in how the human body is marked so it can be socially regulated. Sociologist ask why, if body are truly irrelevant in drone. Sociologist response social institutions always make demands welfare, why do soldiers who operate the drones wear uniform? on bodily appearance as a mean of exerting social control. Makes the wearer"s status visible to oneself & others - constant reminder that one belongs to certain collectivities & identifies w/ their goals. Uniforms - give legitimacy to certain activities , sanctioning behaviours that otherwise would be problematic - ie. killing ppl who behaves in expected ways. Confirm one"s identity as a highly trained & fully compliant soldier.
