Weber is concerned with the process of rationalization that keeps happening. He sees it happen in terms of the rise of the modern economic system, which goes along with bureaucracy. Bureaucracy is a highly rational structure to work in. He sees a switch towards rationalization happening in science and how he explains the switch is looking to our socially meaningful actions. Durkheim goes about this by figuring out what a society"s moral health is. There would be less tension and less stress. He wants to figure out how we can orient change to preserve moral health. For durkheim, one of the ways to figure out what a healthy society would look like is to always look at something that"s unhealthy; the pathology.
