Document Summary

In lecture 6, we watched the documentary called man on wire". Within certain bounds, phillipe saw art in what he was doing or performance of art as an act of beauty. Beauty being morally defensible/of the highest moral standard. A moral standard that was above the law. This search for a type of beauty was morally superior. Law came into play, which he broke but in a way where the law didn"t really know what to do. Friends also had a moral decision: friend"s safety or friend"s dream. One friendship nearly destroyed because of this one event. He and his friends were able to manoeuvre in and out of the building several times without being detected. Posed as a journalist, had a wheelchair and crutches. It seemed as if they were planning a crime. Difference in surveillance, policing and security back then to now.
