Culture - what we learn from each other vs. what was programmed by our genes. Not determined by nature, birth, but the society we live in. Contrarily, we are programmed to have culture . This program enables culture-specific ways of acting, living, and thinking. In some societies, considered worse to disobey authorities than others. Every country deals with violence, the difference is how. Some believe sharing and giving is the cement of society . Learn by doing vs. learn by hearing, eg. - speaking. Popularly, but not in anthropology, a culture also refers to a group of people (rather than their ways of acting, living, and thinking) Cultures are significantly different, but not infinitely different. Human cultures have more in common than not. A distinctively human resource and central element of culture, used for: Teaching us to understand the world in culturally specific and universally human ways. Helping us to categorize ourselves in groups and as individuals.
