We never have a pure system; always all of them mixed together. Gender inequality: began in earnest in pastoralism. Unequal development: began in the colonial period of industrialism. Racism: began in slavery (agricultural production during the early industrialist period) Don"t have to be disciplined through violence. They"re disciplined through internalizing what is required by them through prison. In earlier periods, inequality as more explicitly enforced by violence. In postindustrial, hegemonic societies, there is more reliance on spontaneous consent among those who are less equal.
