Archaeologists specialize in particular types- especially: stone tools, ceramics ( pottery) Natural object used or affected by people. The study of animal remains in the archeological record. The study of a plant remains in the archeological record. Eg seeds, pollen, phytoliths ( silicon dioxide nodules from plant cells) Complex features= eg buildings ( house, temples, granaries, etc) Simple features- eg hearths, burials, storage pits, post holes. Spatial clusters of artifacts, features and/ or eco facts. A place where evidence of past human activity is preserved. Boundaries may be well or poorly defined.
