Culture: what we learn from each other vs what was programmed by genes . Culture is something that we learn from others and therefore it cannot be programmed". However, to have culture, is programmed in by our genes. Program enables culture specific ways of acting, living & thinking. Cultures are different but not infinitely different: more in common than not. Language: central element of culture used for, communication & cooperation, signification (making meanings thru language) Language universals: things that are common in all languages: nouns, verbs, word order differs from language to language, it may be important in some language than others. (ex. In the english language: you are require to put some words in a certain order. ) Specific languages and culture develop to cope with environmental and social context niches: culture able to change context where ppl live.
