Meteors larger than 10 meters can make it through the earth"s atmosphere. A 10k meteor hit sudbury area 1. 8 billion years ago. Because of this, the large impact crater melted the earth"s crust and the uprising lava brought nickel, copper, platinum and gold to the surface. Bodies without a protective atmosphere have more craters are more susceptible to me- teors. Meteor flash of light in sky as as particles enters atmosphere. Piece of rock from space that has fallen to the ground. Once a part of a proto planet, these broke off in the solar systems early stages and now roam around. Comets come from the outside of the solar system for billions of years. Whenever they enter the solar system they evaporate. Near-earth asteroids will one hit us or collide into the sun.
