After pearl harbour, the film industry takes a much more active and targeted role by working with the federal government. On january 1, 1942 (just weeks after pearl harbour) roosevelt outlined six basic themes that could educate the public on the war and what was happening. They needed to sell the war to a war-weary public. Now there is evidence that the pca was openly suppressing the ideas of their own artists, even if they fit within roosevelt"s narrative. Major studios feared alienating both foreign and domestic audiences. The four freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want, freedom from fear. We must make the four freedoms live and breathe. Each individual must know how these four freedoms affect his individual life. The musical meet me in st. louis has this propagandistic quality.
