Should heinz have broken into the laboratory to steal the drug for his wife: lawrence kohlberg prevented a number of people with this scenario, he was interested in finding the moral reasoning/justification different people provided for their actions. In his research, he found that people usually provide three kinds of reasoning for their actions. The stages of moral development (self > social > principles: pre-conventional morality, characteristic of children. I. e. should i steal the cookie: selfishness / self orientation and fear of punishment, conventional morality. Interests of other people to my family, my friends, my group, my peers: conformity, law & order, post-conventional morality.
