Gender differences in crime and criminal justice outcomes. Proportional of crime: male vs female ratio of crime. Violent crime over females was 23 times higher than the woman crime rate: gender differences show up when you ask speci c things on surveys, when you change the population - highschool students - females had lower crime. If you look at street youth, gender differences disappeared or reversed: why are female street youth more similar, gender balance in highschool. Biological theories: taller, heavier people are more likely to commit crime than smaller. In 2007, there were 594 victims of homicide in canada: 432 (73%) were male; 162 (27%) were female. In 2007, there were 527 known homicide offenders in canada: 474 (90%) were male; 53 (10%) were female. 95% of female victims were killed by males; 30% of male victims were killed by females: males are 73% of victims and 27% were offenders.
