Geologists haven"t agreed to denote it as a timescale. There is nothing in rocks to point to its beginning. Extremely tough to decide a date based on farming. Some people look at extinction of things or pollution or when things started altering. We"re currently in the holocene 11,700 years ago. Stratigraphers (geologists that argue when a boundary should be put in place) have a lot of really strict rules. They don"t like the idea of anthropocene because there is no clear evidence of what we call a clear epochs. They say its more of a pop culture idea, not a scientific idea.
