Governance: arrangements through which individuals or groups/organizations direct actions by using policies, etc. Regulation: regulations are both formal and informal (ex: environmental regulations) Institutions: rules and norms come together and take action as a collective (ex: legal system, informal rules, and social norms) Video shown in class: stoller - tragedy of the commons footage on fox news. Communal ownership and management: what is the assumption about human behaviour? if people don"t own something, they don"t really care about it. Stoller overlooks the fact that people have cognition, culture, etc. The commons are also known as common property resources: ex: air, water, and any other resources that the general public has access to, they have begun to get regulated.
