Long term climate changes: orbital controls these cycles are responsible for a baseline of variability . Shape of the earth\s orbit around the sun. Position along orbital path at which seasons occur: orbital forcing is main cause of historic variability. Changes in orbit, tilt and seasons alter the solar radiation received by the earth. Cycles vary but we can measure them over time but match up well with glaciations. Changes how energy is distributed over the earth"s surface.
