Not just from tech, but from local manufacturing and consumption (shorter transport distance) Conservation requires changes in people"s energy-consuming behavior. Changing behavior: giving people information is not effective way of changing people"s behavior, factual knowledge, attitude, values influence intentions, social pressure influences degree to which people participate in environmental things. Context: people might intend to engage in proenviro behavior but will be influenced by situational factors. Climate: education about energy efficiency and use is, important but insufficient alone, supply-side mitigation. Biomass combustion of organic matter to make heat approx. 9% of energy demand globally no net increase in ghgs when combusted: amount combusted = amount plant took in fuel sources, crops, wastes a lot of controversy about food crops combustion of waste. Fuel sources: vegetable fats, plant waste from agri or industry, fermented sugar products.
