Document Summary

Innate barriers have a cut and bacteria can get in. The first thing is that they are recognized by pattern recognition receptors. The first cells that recognize them are pachrophages. Main function of macrophages is to produce pro-inflammatory cytokines. Secretion of cytokines is a downstream of nfkb. They cause an increase of vascular permeability, the endothelial cells become more leaky; fluids can escape and proteins can escape them such as compliment proteins. As a consequence, we have an i(cid:373)fla(cid:373)(cid:373)ator(cid:455) respo(cid:374)se (cid:894)a(cid:374) a(cid:272)ute respo(cid:374)se(cid:895). These side effe(cid:272)ts are(cid:374)"t (cid:272)aused (cid:271)(cid:455) the pathoge(cid:374), (cid:271)ut are caused by the cytokines response to the pathogen. Acute infmallatory response is the recruitment of neutrophils to the cytokines so the response gets amplified. It reacts so badly because all the signs have a purpose. Purpose of acute inf response is to reduce the number of molecules that get infected and they localize the infection. Cytokines are small priteins, they are used for communication between cells.
