Document Summary
Mechanical digestion is the physical breakdown of food, like by the teeth of in the stomach. Chemical digestion is whrre chemicals or enzymes work on the food molecules to chemically break down bonds. Trancellular is going from one side of the cell to the other. Transcytosis is where its transported by endocysotis and exocytosis. Proteins needs a number of enzymes to cleave them into smaller peptides. We care about the large tryglicerides and lipase cleaves them into monoglycerides or free fatty acids. Amylase stops working in the stomach because of the ph. These good bacteria need an energy source, so they digest fiber. The microvilli makes up the brush border, and its full of enzymes. If you ave lactose intolerance, you lack the lactase receptor.
