Internalizing way of being that you"ve absorbed. Personality get"s organized on limited subset of reality - lose zest (i. e. magic etc. ) Holding onto happy frame -> change frame - suffering = inevitable. Spend most of our lives holding on and being defendant -> helps us feel okay but makes us bounded. Desire to alleviate negativity -> settle on suboptimal strategies - settle prematurely. Diagnosing a specific disorder = inexact science -> struggles with diagnosis and treatment. Vulnerable patients when they want help, clarity, change, etc. Perceptions, biases, errors of psychologists doing diagnosing and treatment. Multi-faceted nature of disorders (overlapping symptoms, co-morbidity) - disorders go hand in hand with other disorders. Inherent uncertainty and imprecision of people"s subjectivity. Inattention: distractibility, forgetfulness, disorganization, failure to follow instructions, excessive procrastination, frequently losing items. Hyperactivity: restlessness, excessive talking, fidgeting, inability to remain seated. Impulsivity: difficulty taking turns, interrupting, impulsive spending. Labels can be good for letting people know what is going on (if accurate)
