Three implications of this: what you do with your body and your mind is the emotional experience you will end up having, the emotional life you will end up being. Emotions serve social ntions the expression of emotion helps: coordinate social actions communicate vast amounts of info to people triggering kindness and care (emotion -> empathy -> kindness) forming much of the social glue that bonds us together. Emotions as a universal social language - pail edman. Different cultures can communicate this way, regardless of how different they are. We have to be able to interpret each other"s emotions! Negative emotions -> sats! good for crises: fast, automatic, narrowing not so great the rest of the time: stress, immune suppression, lack of creativity.
