Researchers have been able to induce people to recall complicated events from early in life that never actually happened, such as getting lost in a shopping mall. People can fit in details that would be the experience even if it never happened to them. Fake disneyland commercial featuring bugs bunny shown to a group of people. 1/3rds of them recall meeting bugs bunny at disneyland as a kid. Bugs bunny is a not a disney character!
