Anatomy of the temporal lobe: auditory and visual areas (more functional) Area te responsible for ventral stream: medial view, most anterior: uncus. Responsible for olfaction: open up sylvian fissure (insula: little brain inside) increasing area for processing. Connections of the temporal cortex: afferent projections fr sensory systems, efferent projections to parietal and frontal association regions, limbic system, ad. Left and right connected via: corpus callosum (neocortex, anterior commissure (subcortical) 3 basic sensory func: processing auditory input, visual obj recognition, long term storage of info. Primarily circumscribed in the medial prefrontal lobe: sensory processes, identification and categorization of stimuli, cross-modal matching.
