Document Summary
Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour, thought and experience and how they can (cid:1) be affected by physical, mental, social and environmental factors. Why we think, feel and behave the way we do (on bio, social level) What causes people to do certain things. Lots of overlap among these different areas (ex. A psychologist might study perceptual development, the neurological underpinnings of prejudice, or decision-making during depressive episodes) Multiple factors that interact with each other to influence our behaviour. People are generally unaware of the influences on their behaviour. Not aware of all the factors impacting your behaviour (cid:1) (cid:1) Historical (and modern) barriers to the recognition of psychology as a scientific discipline. Fairly new discipline since back than people were not ready to accept such an advanced discipline. Although the seeds of psychology were planted long before he came along, wilhelm wundt is given the honour of formally founding experimental psychology.
