Psychoanalysis, behaviorism, informaion procession/computaional, humanist/existenial, posiive and evoluionary. Freud followed an ancient tradiion that plato used. Insights : the unconscious, interacionism in development, muliple systems in the psyche. Development is not due to nature or nurture or genes, not something you learn from your environment. He also proposed that the efects of these interacions could be relected in diferent stages of development for diferent parts of the psyche. These mismatches caused diiculty to the individual (growing up with parents you learn various defense mechanisms i. e how to talk to them respecfully) The way you atach to your ???? deeply inluences your romanic relaionship. Diferent systems in the brain that work according to diferent moivaions, principles and roles and may be in conlict with one another. Id pleasure principle, works largely by associaion. Ego reality principle, govern behavior in terms of whats really going on. Superego represents the internalizaion of parental and cultural values.
