Document Summary

Jung is saying that there is stuff that is going on in the unconscious that we can"t understand. We have an understanding of natural selection, when we think about the nature of the species, you can"t understand that species simply by studying it: we also have to understand the larger evolution context that shape them. Eg. climatic changes, food sources, predator/prey relationship. Why is the mind any different: there is an ecological story to every individual, each person is born into a certain context for a very long time. There is a relationship b/w the thoughts in our mind and these organizing patterns that govern us. When something goes well, we attribute it to our character. We are operating in a mysterious level. Jung also writes about how our mental being affect the evolution (?: people will struggle to the consequences of the changes in the world.
