Very crippling: arguably the most crippling disorder. Has a great effect on people around you ie. caregivers. Late adolescence and early adulthood: has a huge effect on relationships, school etc. Cognitive impairment is very characteristic of people with : this is the biggest predictor of disability! More common in males and earlier onset in males. Cultural differences: perhaps because of different adverse life events in different countries. Growing up in syria: social disadvantage, familial differences in terms of reaction. We do(cid:374)"t k(cid:374)o(cid:449) the (cid:272)ause of s(cid:272)hizophre(cid:374)ia! The course of the disorder: prodromal phase - you know something is off but its not an acute phase of the illness. With neil the acute phase of the illness was the acute phase of the illness - catatonia: we see catatonia as a motor disability. Neil had active cognitive processes going on (he was thinking that the direction of his movement caused a political decision)
