Document Summary

Measuring the brain: mri, ct, pet, eeg + more. Spanish scientist and artist used golgi"s stains to observe and describe neurons. Observed and drew them - all these are drawn below. Over time, he came to a drastic conclusion: Neurons do not seem to touch --> led to the synapse. Review questions were given based on last lecture - topics incl analytic introspection + opposing theories. Lecture notes: cognitive neuroscience - neuropsychology and neuroanatomy. 19th century: researchers though brain was a continuous network. Information comes in, travels throughout and ends up somewhere for an output. This was strongly held bc the only way to do neuroscience is post-mortem brain staining. Staining latches to the neurons and you can observe. These stains tended to stain more than was necessary - it looks like a blob eventually. There wasn"t enough detail that appeared, led to continuous hypothesis. Behaviourists, then deviation from that, etc - last lecture.
