Document Summary
Sensation and perception interacts each other to make us to experience. Sensation: ability to detect stimulus ( bottom up processing: not knowing full information , just detect sensory information) Perception: giving meaning for stimulus ( top down processing: based on knowledge, experience, expectation) Single cell recording : identify neurons in primary visual cortex that prefer basic feature. Simple-> early complex object-> complex object (faces, body, places) Perception of object : by chorus of feature detectors. Hierarchical organization : feature(lowest)-> conversion ( eg. recognize corners) -> components shapes. > object. ( cognition fill between these gaps) Geon: recognition by component: 36 unique 3d features. Each geon have viewpoints in variance ( can be recognized by different viewpoints = by most of viewpoints you can recognize which geon is) Every object can be reduced to combination of subset of 36 geons = we can break down the objects to geons. We can recognize object with only 2-3 geons.
