Document Summary

In order to study the process of consolidation try to impair it with drugs. In the research paradigm a memory is made using conditioning (mwm, inhibitory avoidance, fear conditioning: after a certain amount of time, the training will be test (for short-term memory) In humans stm is about 30 seconds, in animal research stm is memory that is 1-2 hours and ltm is more than 24 hours. Inject drug immediately before training and then do the training (a) acquisition is intact, but consolidation process is disrupted and animal doesn"t remember anything after retention. No impairment in stm but impairment in ltm (b) no impairment in stm and ltm this drug disrupted acquisition. Interfered with memory formation only when given immediately (0 hours) after training, but had no effect after 3hrs the process of consolidation was about 3 hours: protein synthesis occurs for only 3 hours after training.
