PSY435H1 Lecture 6: Notes - Env Psych - LEC 6
Document Summary
People are asking about the climate change problem in 3 different ways: environmental perspective. All the natural sciences, people who are looking at soil, water, biodiversity, the amount of diversity. This is a huge body of knowledge: economic perspective. You"re talking about the real world, economic growth/competition/efficiency/value. Critical issues such as empowerment/disempowerment, the government processes (how people are excluded/included into decision making) Although there are simple problems, we have different sub-divisions. Sustainability is all of these things working together. Nobody understands this: when you have environmental discussions, you have translation problems. Different languages are always battling for dominance. There are differences in the amount of value in the information. Essentially, you are talking about the same thing with different information. E. g. talking about sustainability/climate change but talk about different elements of it. The idea of bringing different ideas together: this is called a systems perspective. Where different explicit systems contribute to the same issue.
