Document Summary

A bit of environmental flavor, but focus is on the process of how we do science. How science is done: an aside on hypotheses. A provisional statement that proposes a possible explanation for a particular observed phenomenon. Trying to get at the causal relationship. We don"t actually ever prove something, we build up a lot of evidence supporting something. We are all scientists by nature, including non-humans: ex. Dog barking when she is on the phone, shuts up when you give him a treat. If we do x then y will ensue. If you have a good hypothesis it should be interesting enough to bring about other hypotheses. If you test the hypothesis and get results, those results propose other ideas. Which one is more correct, which one is going to be more supported. It is the flipside: x and y are unrelated: statement of no effect.
