Document Summary
Cultural operating systems and how people learn them. I can"t do that (polite japanese *non-confrontational) translation fuck off, i won"t do that . You cannot look someone in the eyes (disrespectful) It is a filter through which we view and understand the world. The world looks different to people of different cultures. People learn a culture through socialisation, then enact it in their everyday behavior. There are no absolutely right and wrong, better or worse cultural values. When people seem off, it is usually because they are members of a different culture. Some norms are established and enforced by laws. Culture often changes with the diffusion of new ideas and technologies. Through diffusion, people in a society come to adopt a new practice, behavior, or idea: new ideas are always diffusing in diverse populations like our own. However, at, any time, many people (late adopters) will be unaware of and uninitiated into a new idea or practice.
