SMC103Y1 October 27, 2009 Martin Luther (1483-1546) was a passionate man and therefore not concerned about consistency. Luther the Teacher/Pastor of Christians It is because of this he sought to define the spiritual insight, with effects that lead into others without plan. Christ fixed the relationship between human beings or justification. The inherited tradition is that God is the creator and we are creatures. There is a different at the level of being and the moral. God is the Holy One and we are sinners. God sends Christ to bridge this gap between us. Jesus is the Stairway to Heaven, man! Well a better metaphor is that he is a ladder, a gift from God because he loved the world. Having put the ladder there, he wants people to play their part and climb up the ladder. “When God crowns your merits, he is rewarding you with his own gifts.” –St. Augustine. This is not an equal relationship – it is all God’s grace. It expects faith and commitment to climb up the ladder. Faith working through love, is a faith acting in its own way. Martin Luther found the inherited tradition to be mechanical, as too much of a programmed format. He also found it to be insecure and generates anxiety, compared to a peace of mind for the
