Today we will lecture, then watch a movie, and then her sister is lecturing. The movie is about the unionization about a peep show in san francisco. Last week, we had an interruption in talking about marriage, gender norms, and commitment norms and so on. however, here, while something may not be outlawed, it is regulated in a variety of ways. Hyde, in that she comes at it as a governance standpoint. She is looking at how people are governed, and how this happened in ways aside from the original intent. She is also a conflict theorist (marx) looking at relationships of power brought on by capitalism. So because of capitalism, relationships are formed in a certain way. So the idea here is how the labor market freely compels people to sell their bodies . You can look at being freely compelled with other things, like rights of conscience.
