Anatomy and Cell Biology 2221 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Fascia, Thoracic Vertebrae, Basilic Vein
Document Summary
Name, identify & describe the anatomical features of the scapula, clavicle and the humerus on anatomical specimens. Name, identify & describe the main superficial veins that drain the subcutaneous tissues of the upper limb. Name, identify & describe the muscles of the scapular region, including their actions, innervation & bony attachments. Sternoclavicular joint and acromioclavicular joint (different than shoulder joint) Retract- shoulder blades closer together- closer to midline. Protraction- widening distance between medial borders of scapula. Upward rotation- inferior angle moves laterally*- when raising arms, if you don"t have lateral tip, humerus will whack into acromion. Abduction- take away adduction- add to body- to midline. Lateral rotation- moving hands posterior, rotating laterally @ shoulder joint medial- toward midline. Both have valves to flow blood in one direction- more valves in deep. Main superficial veins: cephalic vein (lateral) and basilic vein (medial) Lie under the skin within superficial fascia (careful during dissection)
