Describe the plural reflections and be able to define the different processes. Explain how the lung may collapse or shift with a puncture wound. Discuss the hilum of the lungs and the components of the root of the lung. Based on the tracheal/bronchial tree branching discuss the path of foreign objects and segmentation of the lungs. Pleura is more extensive in the thorax than the lungs themselves. Lung tissue starts above the clavicle and comes down to 8th intercostal space. Lungs are longer posteriorly than anteriorly- posteriorly extends to. Lungs are surrounded by visceral pleura (directly attached to the lungs) and parietal pleura. Parietal pleura extends farther down than the lungs to the 10th intercostal space. Orange circle small depression in left lung- can see plural lining, no lung tissue here space for the heart. Lung starts forming from midline tube which gives rise to the esophagus and trachea.
